Hi! I'm Katy, the designer behind KT and the Squid. I'm so excited to be the host of this month's CAL! Here are 9 random facts about me. I taught myself to crochet in high school. I have a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. I have an irrational fear of aquariums. My favorite things to crochet are sweaters and shawls. Wool is my favorite fiber. I haven't had a real hair cut in 6 years. I like to keep my yarn stash small. I make my own soap. My favorite hook is size H.
This month's CAL is the Demelza Pullover. This pullover is perfect for the transition from Winter to Spring. It's also a great intro into making garments if you've never made any before.
Sizes
First things first! Before you get your yarn you'll need to pick a size. The Demelza Pullover comes in 7 sizes: XS(S, M, L, 1X, 2X, 3X). These sizes will fit a bust of: 30”(34”, 38”, 42”, 46”, 50”, 54”). The pullover is designed to fit with about 3” of positive ease. Our lovely model is wearing size medium. If you still need more info here is the schematic of the sweater to help you out. You can compare these measurements with clothing in your closet to get an idea of how it will fit.
Yarn
Once you've settled on a size you get to go yarn shopping! I've used Berroco Ultra Alpaca (50% super fine alpaca/50% Peruvian wool; 215 yd/198 m/ 3.5oz/100g; worsted/4 weight). You'll need 4(4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6) hanks. The color photographed is Burgundy (#2401).
Good alternatives include Berroco Vintage and Berroco Comfort.

Keep in mind gauge is SUPER important for garments. Make sure you have a couple other sizes handy just in case.
Yarn needle
I like to use a metal needle for weaving in ends and a plastic one for seaming.
